Sucked up my first 5 gallons of WVO

Well after running on virgin vegetable oil for a while we decided to take the first baby step to running WVO. WE went to a restaurant that mostly fries fish we found a 55gallon drum with a tallow company label on it that smelled very pleasant if you’re a raccoon. It took just 20 seconds to fill a 5 gallon jug. WE got it home and it is about 98 percent water and broth. What gives with that I sucked the oil or water in this case from the middle of the drum. The only good thing is we got some 5 gallon jugs with lids from the dumpster. At least we learned our pump was fast at least pumping water and we got some good 5 gallon jugs with lids. Tomorrow we are going to talk to the management about getting them to poor just used oil back into the jugs when they empty the fryers. We tried to get a jug out of a Chinese restaurant with the big black oil dumpster but there was a mesh screen and our pump hose was too big to fit through it. Why in the world would a restaurant pay oil waste removal fees for water? I have 1 gallon of it in a wide pot with a big fan blowing on it we will see soon just how much oil is in a gallon I think it will be about 3 percent a bit discouraged, but we will press on till we get a good steady supply of 40 gallons of good WVO a week. Last week a 30 ton whale washed up on the beach near us the feds and state were fighting about who would remove it I tried to talk my son into carving up a ton or two and processing it into oil now that would be a manly way to get fuel but he is not insane and I may be. I for one would sure be impressed by some one who took a dead whale and turned it in to fuel.

Thumbs up you guys are funny

I bet you get more oil out of the whale than the fish dumpster....

I hope you get your WVO clean and water free....Don't mess with anything but clean water free WVO / meat free/ fish is OK.

It should be cola colored,

Only reason for water in there may be it rained ...?

Also may try Japaneese restaurants....Many fry only Tempura veggies and some fish...If you can find 2 or more sources you will be set....

keep us posted.

An environmentalist would flip if you told them you powered your car on "whale blubber"

I think I may go out and look for some WVO soon too, I want to put a small tank under my hood and try out the 80wvo/20rug mix, if it saves me any money at all it'd be fine with me. I think I will have a hard time finding an oil source though....

What about BD's Mongolian Barbque on 28th ST. SE ???

btw R.Diesel invented the engine to run on whale oil since it was abundant at the time....

!! That place is about 2.5 miles away from my house....but I know they use a lot of meat there, wouldn't that be a bad thing....or would it still be ok...? I know of a couple japaneese/chinese places, I think I might go ask them next week. Also, there's a tortilla chip factory here in GR too, El Matador chips, maybe they have some oil? The bag says they fry the tortilla chips in corn oil, that would be perfect!!...if they actually have waste oil that is, I'm not sure if there's anything left over after the chip making process. I know theres not when you make popcorn....I make a lot of popcorn....working at a theater....

Exclamation liquid gold

That's where MAttSD gets all his wvo,,,from a chip factory!
Excellent place.
Talk to him about it; maybe he can give you a good story for getting their oil...They'll have tons of it....no S###.
It's so clean you barely have to filter it....
You 'll never pay for fuel again....

very few use it cause your system of heating the tallowed waste oil in the vehicle has to be real damn good. Takes a good bit more of work to filter it too butttttttt..... I have heard that meat oils have more oomph in them. Don't you like that technical term.

Modify car or fuel

When using WVO, the adage is to modify the car or modify the fuel. If you decide on blending your WVO:

10 gallons WVO
1 gallon kerosene
1/2 gallon regular unleaded
8 ounces Power Service Diesel Kleen cetane boost

And 2 ounces of the secret ingredient - a mixture of:

Xylol (Lowes paint dept.)
Sta-bil fuel stabilizer (Walmart)

This stops the white smoke at startup and breaks up water.

Some people (like me) prefer to omit the gasoline and add a little more kerosene or some diesel. RUG seems a bit spicy for my engine.

Meat?

I don't know anything about this stuff, but curious...

Why would meat-frying oil be bad but fish-frying oil good?

IDK
Meat is bad because of the saturated fat in it is just a PITA to have to pre filter....
Fish I just read that someone here thought they got BETTER mileage from UCO from fish....and less sat fat.....
