Whats with all the new interest in WVO?

Just hit 9000 miles on 20/80 Rug/WVO blend.

My Blend:

4 Gallons WVO
1 gallon Regular Unleaded Gas
2 oz. Power Service Cetane Boost (silver bottle)
1 oz. Acetone
1/3 oz. PRI-GAS treatment... wwwpriproducts.com... By far the best fuel stabilizer.

Both car and truck running on blend. Its been 7 months since I have bought diesel.

Yes same question here, I have a chip factory around here in my sights to get waste oil from, I sure hope I can. If I can, what is the temp that the 20RUG/80WVO mix would still be viable? Last winter we saw -12 deg's here for a week or so....but it can get mighty cold. If need be I could just run on diesel for that part of the season, but how low can that mix go, and can you make it more (30/70) etc...to combat cold temps? I hope this factory gives me oil!! Even if I can run it for a few months yet...that'd be great!

With your colder temps, I would intsall a block heater & a inline electric fuel heater for temps. under 40 deg.

Hi Austin,

Get the one for GAS...Were mixing GAS & OIL to make a Diesel Fuel! (BIO-RUG) you heard it here first!!! LOL

Just like PRE mixing gas/oil for 2 strokes we dont want the RUG to go BAD!!

The increasing interest in WVO is formulaically linked to rising fuel prices.

A blend my car likes:

10 Gal vegetable oil
1.5 Gal kerosene
4 ounces cetane boost
1 ounce xylol
1 ounce Sta-bil fuel stabilizer

You can also throw in a quart of AFT if you like.

I love the way veggie oil smooths out my engine. RUG seems to put the clackity back, so I try to thin with just kerosene. Though, in colder climate RUG might be necessary.

Is this mix WVO safe?

Any issues with running this mix? What type of filtering are you guys doing to the WVO? How are you getting out water and Glycerine? Does it damage your fuel lines?
Steve

1.Gravity filter through multi layers of cloth in 55 gal. barrel.

2.The best way getting rid of the water in WVO is collecting it with little or no water in it!! How its done is... ALWAYS USE "WVO" THAT GO'S STREIGHT TO BUCKET/CUBBIE FROM THE FRYER... NO dumpster div'in After that set the WVO out in the sun for a day. If there is any water in it..itwill settle to the bottom. Always pump oil out of containers about 2" from bottom. Only use pure oils..Soy,Canola, Peanut ... NO CREAMY looking stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. NO DAMAGE TO FUEL LINES IN 7 MONTHS.

4.The above blend "1983/300CD" IS to THICK for your area.

5.I like to use RUG as a thinning solvent for WVO blending. Thats the whole purpose of it. Kerosene is some what oily, dont need anymore OIL and does not CUT WVO/FATS as well as RUG.

5 My car is less noisy on the RUG/WVO blend than on Diesel

Hope this helps........

Thumbs up

Yes; The black specs are algae bugs in the tank it's old....get some Biocide for diesel tanks at a marine supply store...use as directed....I use ValvTech from westmarine...It will kill any junk in the tank..
Clean your filters with acetone ; 1minute in there swish it around; and empty...You won't have to keep on buying filters...But always have an extra clean set in your trunk.....I sold out 2 AP stores on folters before I started cleaning.....(:
