wvo lit up!

I've read several posts how RUG/WVO combis aren't flammable. Because I'm considering an oil pan heater on the bottom of my fuel tank this winter (plugged in overnight like a block heater), I thought Id better assure myself that this wouldnt blow up my car.

A 4:1 and 5:1 WVO/RUG mix both caught fire when lit with a match, and kept burning!

I'm going to put straight #2 diesel in the refrigerator and freezer along with my test samples, and see if theyre all similar. This flame up causes me to reconsider heating W/R mixtures, and if it is similar in consistency with #2, I'll just not heat it.

Anyone have experience with unheated W/R in cold climates? Appreciate all feedback.

no way in heck you will ever meet the flashpoint of the hydrocarbons of wvo/rug blend with a wimpy pad heater.

In other words, dont worry about it, it will NOT blow up. Now, dont go putting a lit match in your tank... because it probably will. Just remember, fire/explosions can not happen without the presence of oxygen. Think smart, and be safe.

You must have VERY HOT matches

As you can see in the pic the match is over 1/2 burnt down and second latter it went out! The blend NEVER caught on fire.

Oh Yeah...NEVER EVEN THINK ABOUT PUTTING A MATCH IN THE TANK!!! IT WILL BLOW UP (GAS FUMES). I NEVER SAID IT WAS NOT FLAMABLE!!!!!! If it wasnt flamable it wouldnt be FUEL!!

Blend used in test.

4 Gallons WVO
1 Gallon RUG
2 oz. cetane boost
1 oz.acetone
