question for wvo burners
OK, so i replumbed the fuel circuit on my 1980 300D as per recommendations in the frybrid manual.
here's my interpretation of the stock fuel flow circuit: tank > prefilter > lift pump > filter > injector pump > pump return line and injector return lines to banjo on top of filter > cigar hose > tank here's what i did on the stock side: tank > prefilter > filter > 1st 3-port > lift pump > injector pump > return lines to banjo on top of filter with solid bolt > cigar hose > 2nd 3-port > tank on the veg side i have heated tank > HOH > prefilter > frybrid budget heated filter > coiled HIH heat exchanger > 1st 3-port > lift pump > injector pump > return lines > 2nd 3-port > veg tank here's the problem: system loses power when i switch to veg, and now diesel system is losing power. probable cause is an air leak or leaks. questions: 1) is what i did essentially correct, or have i made some gross blunder? 2) i'm thinking of adding an in-line pump just after the veg tank to help push oil to the front of the car. the question is should i leave the system otherwise unchanged from the mods i made above (assuming they're correct)? or alternately, would there be a problem with doing the following? on the diesel side: tank > prefilter > lift pump > filter > 1st 3-port > injector pump > return lines > 2nd 3-port > tank on the veg side: tank > in-line pump > prefilter > filter > heat exchanger > 1st 3-port > injector pump > return lines > 2nd 3-port > tank benefit would be that both diesel and veg filters are now under pressure instead of vacuum. possible downside is that stock lift pump would be deadheaded at the 1st 3 port when switched to veg. i don't know if this is a problem, so if anyone could chime i would appreciate it. |
