Don't know, but it's fine enough to take out lint.

For example, it is a good idea to put a bit of pantyhose over the washing machine outlet if it drains into a basin. Change every half year. A lot easier than getting that gunk out of the drain pipe.

I don't think I would trust it enough to be my only WVO filter, though.

I'd guess around 200 microns for the legs and 100 microns for the padded areas.

I was planning to use it as a pre-filter before washing the oil. The question is how much unfiltered (or strained) oil would go through before it clogs and what would be the next filter step after that. Maybe another step before?

If you want a cheap prefilter use an old pair of blue jeans! Pantyhose would make really lousy filters except for the extra industrial control top with several layers.

I'm planning to filter through coffee filters.....any idea what the micron rating is there?

I have 2 cubes of used only once WVO peanut oil.

Gonna just filter and pour...still in the 80's here....I've already left them in the sun to evaporate any water...

Used at a fish fry at my church..

So, what do you think? I've got around 300 coffee filters aging in the cupboard.

Been there done that with coffee filters. Don't waste your time. They will overflow. Not big enough.

Here is a good idea for stage 2....Stage 1 could be through a bed sheet; a t shirt or similar cloth...supported by chickenwire; over a barrell or big pail...

I traced the lip size of the filter on the center of the lid and cut out the circle. Didn't even have to seal it beacuse it fit so well !

Turn the lid upside down and it holds exactly 5 gallons of UCO/WVO and filters through in 10-12 minutes

McMaster filters are only about $4 each and you get the exact rating. Shipping is $4 for up to a dozen.

Panyhose, jeans, sheets, etc are OK for pre-filtering, but they stretch and are not consistent.

You can also buy 200 micron bucket or barrel filters - I see them on Ebay. They are hard plasic and just fit over the top.

Do not scrimp in filtering! I have 11,000 miles on my 300SD filters running on UCO (WVO). Everything goes through a 10-micron Goldenrod before it goes in the car.

I was interested in their WVO System III http://www.hydrogenappliances.com/oilsys.html that they have. I was thinking about putting a heating element in it to use it to make biodielel. No washing needed. Heard it probably wasn't a good idea...
