Is this a good price for Bulk SVO?

I ran into this co. surfing and saw bulk veggie oil for sale....by the ton.

I think there's 8 lbs in a gallon........someone do the math....

~ $1.60/gal. but there's the little issue of getting it here from Venezuela.

the import paperwork and leasing a tanker container are not worht the headaches. i tried and had frt fwders try. maybe i had the wrong ones as there are large bio d shipments coming into tampa now. guess ya gotta have the money to do it right.

Also the bulk oil from over seas may not yet be degummed. Not degummed raises a whole set of new problems.

For future reference that 8-lbs per gallon is correct for water, oil and diesel fuel is probably more like 5 or 5.5-lbs per gallon.

More like 7 pounds per gallon for Diesel and about 1/2 pound less for gasoline.

How many tons can you fit into a container, and what's the weight limit on a container?

shipping from venezuela...probably 2-3K per container ...maybe less.

There's gotta be someplace closer that has veggie oil for cheap $.

Guessing 40K in a container. So 20 tons.
It would be nice to find out where the guys who supply the restaurants with fresh veggie get their oil from....

We used to ship stuff from China and there is no weight limit on containers. You pay for the 20 or 40 foot container and you fill it wall to ceiling to maxmize your shipping costs.
