Hello,

I recently purchased an '83 300TD station wagon that I would like to run on biodiesel. Is it recommended that I change all the fuel lines to synthetic lines to run biodiesel? Are there any other modifications I need to make before running biodiesel? I would like to eventually convert this car into a single tank wvo system but I need to do more research on the subject. In the meantime I would like to run biodiesel. Thanks for your advice!

I am just repeating what I have heard, but most people will tell you to just replace the rubber hoses with new rubber hoses and run the bio, or just wait until it leaks and replace them as needed. Viton is extremely expensive and new rubber hoses typically will last years until the bio will cause them to leak.

I am just completing my 2 tank wvo conversion on my 300TD.

I replaced the fuel lines in my 300TD a few months ago. After I put the vitons on, I cut open the old fuel lines to see what they looked like after a year and 8000 miles of B100 use. They looked perfectly fine. Although I did develop a fuel leak in the supply line comming out of the tank in the old line. It was leaking right where the rubber line fits onto the metal connector. So make sure you check those lines as well. I wouldn't worry about replacing the lines right away if they look good right now. But keep an eye on them. When the start to weap or start leaking you need to replace them. I wouldn't bother with vitons, but do buy the MB fuel line. It seems to hold up pretty good. I bought vitons for my wagon and it cost me $100, you can find them cheaper though.

thanks for the reply. i'm anxious to start running biodiesel. it's nice to know i don't have to change the lines right away. i am just starting to look into wvo options and the single tank conversions seem very attractive to me. would any of you have any recommendations on where i can get this done in the los angeles area?
