Biodiesel cleaning

We've all heard that biodiesel cleans out our fuel systems. Twenty years of diesel grime clogs our filters when biodiesel is first introduced.

But how about the intake manifold?

This area gets grimy. I've seen the banjo bolt going to the switchover valve get clogged with grime.

Would biodiesel (B100) prevent a clean banjo bolt from accumilating grime over time?

I'm on my third tank of Bio D (B99) and I'm still waiting for the clogged fuel filter effect.

I changed my filter and my pre-filter shortly before switching to Bio D (don't ask why - it was kind of a brain fart considering I knew I was going to switch!) and the pre-filter still looks brand-new.

I can't be absolutely positive but I'm pretty sure no one ever ran Bio D in this car before.

I would doubt Bio D could be depended upon to keep your banjo bolts clean. Mine seemed to have more oil on/in it than diesel fuel.

Why would it clean out the manifold? I thought the "fuel" is sprayed into the cylinders and not the manifold?

I believe that Dr. Booth says using Mobil 1 will slowly clean out the intake or keep it clean(er) if you manually clean it out. Disabling the EGR will as well. I wouldn't think that biodiesel would have any effect here as there would be no biodiesel in contact. When I first got my car the dealer I bought it from filled it with B50 and gave me two spare fuel filters. Sure enough the filter on it clogged within a month and two more fills of B20. Now after running on B20 through the winter and B99 for a month things seem pretty clear.

Blowby.

When I swap my EGR manifold for a non-EGR, I'll report on whether or not it cleans it out.
