A diesel with a hydrogen gererator?
Does any one know if a diesel can really run with a hydrogen generator attached to the system. This guy says that you can. (http://cgi.ebay.com/Hydrogen-Gen erator-Save-gas-fuel-gain-higher-MPG_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ294QQihZ016
) LONG ADDRESS ISN"T IT. Ebay Item number: 260023030971. It sounds like it could help with gas but I don't know about a diesel, especially a 300d or 240d. Do any of you high techs have any knowledge about this. What do you think. Let everyone else know. This is a quote from him "Can my engine burn hydrogen? Yes, any engine can burn hydrogen even diesels. The rocket engines that push the shuttle into outer space use liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. Jet Propulsion Labs in California knows this works!!" Thanks , RAY M |

No. It's snake oil. The private feedback should be a HUGE RED FLAG.
It takes more energy to pull hydrogen out of water than can be used from burning it. It's also not economically possible to run an engine on hydrogen alone. If you look at prototypes like BMW, they have a large liquid hydrogen fuel tank chilled to -423 degrees Fahrenheit and pressurized to over 10,000psi to get a few miles. Save your $25. |

Other scams sold on ebay and everywhere else:
Turbonator/Air genie/ Tornado Electric superchargers Fuel atomizers Power Jet Fuel line magnets/ionizers Voltage stabilizers "Pass emissions" fuel additives (Methanol) Air "compressors" Hydrogen generators None of them work. All they do is transfer your money (That could be used to fill your tank) into their bank account. Last edited by ForcedInduction; 08-20-2006 at 02:45 AM. |

Mythbusters bought one of these hydrogen generators, and yes it does produce hydrogen, but not enough to run a car on.

All those "Hydrogen generators" are fuel supplements only, thay can't produce anywhere near enough to be the only fuel for an IC engine to operate. Like I said before, they take so many amp-hours to produce a few grams of hydrogen, they are far from efficient. With the drag put on the alternator from constantly putting out 60 amps, it can't break even on power output. |

What the designers of these things hope is that the added hydrogen and oxygen will somehow make the gasoline combustion more efficient. While I don't put any stock in their claims, this can't be eliminated so easily. However, if this worked, the automakers would be all over it. |

Your right about how it takes a lot of electrical energy to do the work of splitting up the water, keeping water from being a viable fuel source. |
