SVO/WVO and injector poping pressure.

I know that if you increase the poping preassure of the injectors they will work better with vegetable oil.

I have a 190D 2.5turbo. The om602 5 cylinder turbo. What is the default pressure of its injectors and what sould I set it to to work better with VO?

Thanks, Deni.

The most important step is to check the spray pattern, if you just increase the pop pressure and have a faulty pattern on one of the injectors you will end up with a hole in the piston, look for a place that can adjust the spray also they can increase the 20 pounds or so required for SVO. (please some one correct me if I am wrong)

Cheers

20 psi is just over 1 bar. That will not make a difference. I suspect the increase in pressure is at least 10 bar, but I don't know.

I have a set of 5 ELSBETT injectors for biodiesel not installed yet, also have a pressure pop tester only problem I don’t have a regular injector to compare the pop opening pressure with.

I don't recommend increasing the pressure on stock Bosch injectors Elsbett has a special tip with the spray pattern bigger than the regular ones, (actually is a modified Bosch injector) also you have to retard the IP timing, and if your IP is not in good health it may not reach the pop pressure at all, if you increase just the pop pressure you are looking at a hole in one of the pistons pretty soon providing your IP reaches the pop pressure, stay with what you have try some "blends" instead, or try to increase 5 bars at a time to play it safe, altough if you go back to diesel your mpg will suffer a little bit , don't you agree with this Old 300 D?

I remember that some people adviced to increase the injector poping pressure if one wants to run vo, hence I started this thread. I agree 190 bar is way too high. What's the stock pressure on the turbo 602 injectors?

TomJ of Colorado Biodiesel has experience with modifying the pop pressure of diesel injectors, for the purpose of running vegetable oil. You may want to email him. http://coloradobiodiesel.com/

That's what people started saying when I said I'll run my car on vegetable oil . You can't stop evolution (actually we're "reinventing" what's invented a century ago )

Faulty assumptions, more is not always better, you are not the only one.
