Post WVO/SVO Water Pump PRoblem

I have seen that some SVO rigs use electrical heaters, but I think more popular is taking coolant and running it through copper pipes. I think I forsee a problem with this and I was wondering if anyone else think I am right.

If you are running tubing all the way down your car to the trunk to a separate tank, isn't that going to wreak havoc on your water pump? it has to push all that coolant all the way to the back of your car, and then back to the radiator. How can that be good for a car, especially all the old diesel water pumps which have already taken some mighty abuse over the year?
