Sorry everyone

Yes, FLSA is the Fair Labor Standards Act and yes I do represent employees that have had their rights abused by employers. FYI: 70% of all employers nationwide do not comply with the FLSA. I am not familiar with the legal issues surrounding making biodiesel other than tax implications so I did not mean to cause alarm. Birmingham Alabama does not have biodiesel offered commercially and like everyone else I would like to stick it to big oil.

Thanks for the suggestion to change my name but I'm proud that I help hard working people so I think I'll keep it. If you have to work you might as well be paid for it!!

I'm currently using a blend, I guess I'll have to wait until Alabama catches up with the rest of the country.

I'm sure there are some homebrewers you can contact locally and work something out so you can try their fuel. Bear in mind the seller will be violating laws if you "buy" it, because the seller must be licensed and pay fuel taxes to sell on-road fuel. But cooperatives have structures that allow for fuel distribution in exchange for donated time and materials.

It is so easy to lump all attorneys into the same bunch. My neighbor the lawyer says he loves personal injury cases because they are such easy money. I can hardly stand to look at him. On the other hand, my cousins are lawyer in Atlanta representing legal aliens who have been abused by their employers. They are helping people through the legal profession, not lining their pocket over cases that shouldn't occur in the first place.

As far as B100 in Alabama, I can't help you, but I can understand why everyone reacted the way they did. If you are making B100 at home, you are probably breaking quite a few laws besides not submitting highway taxes. Little items like not operating in an industrial area, transporting oil in a vehicle not approved to do so in, too many explosive chemicals etc. etc. Maybe nobody is enforcing these laws, but who wants to take the chance?

Regarding taxes on biodiesel, I noticed that NY State discounts the highway taxes by the percentage of bio. For example if it is B20, then the road tax is 20% less. If you follow this reasoning, then B100 would be tax free. But if I ever get to the point of making my own biodiesel, I will not be asking any questions, or talking to anyone in my village about making biodiesel.

It's not Biodiesel

Unless it's ASTM certified.
