I agree especially the claims on a percentage of mercedes diesel cars for sale. The admission charge for them is greater than three dollars though.

might help lube the ip and fill in the cracks, but diesel basically is mineral oil.. unless the mineral oil turns a gallon into three, you cannot get more mileage out of the same ammount of fuel, because it uses the same ammount per minute no matter what you put in the tank...

Whunter was trying to lend me a hand (thank you sir!). I was trying to research if mineral oil would be OK to burn in my 83 and 84.
Neighbor had 50 gallons of VERY clean mineral oil from a couple of transformers he was disassembling (they were built in 1986 so no there arent any PCBs in the oil).

Fairly similar properties. I'd treat as SVO and cut maybe 50/50 with #2 for summer time and 20/80 for winter.

Mineral oil is too light to have any real effect. Adding small amounts of a heavier oil such as motor oil would raise the BTU content of the fuel and will make minor improvements to mileage. It wouldn't be cost effective however. Too much motor oil would also drop the cetane index and the increased viscosity would reduce the ability of the injectors to atomize the fuel properly.

I would check if the oil contained silicone. Many transformers which were within buildings would use the silicone transformer oil for fire suppression, in case of an explosion, etc.
I had 10 gals with silicone and did not use, just disposed of same. I would use the mineral oil transformer oil if avail. Maybe the silicone would increase the size of a 240's tank as large as the 300's tank.....

Luckily the date (1986) of manufacture and the manufacturer (General Electric Medical) where clearly stamped on the units.

I checked the stuff this morning.... it was a chilly 28 degrees and looked as viscous as diesel. Unlike the WVO that was next to it that was pretty thick.
