Filters are getting clogged for a reason, so you surely dont want to bypass. A larger filter will still get clogged, but it would just take a little longer. Keep putting around with the factory one til the system gets cleaned out and save the hassle of adding larger filter.

Your filters clog for a reason. They are stopping gunk from getting to the IP and the injectors.

You need to get better filtered oil, or filter yourself down to 5 microns or less.

Out of curiosity, would the water separater kit sold on **************.com...

...be a good safety just in case you haven't filtered the wvo quite enough?
Does anyone use one of these?

clogged filter

Everybody is saying the oil is too dirty. But like I say I'm filtering it down to 5 microns. I'll try filtering it more. But does anybody think that if I heated the spin on filter that that would also help? maybe break up the gunk so it wouldn't clog? fattywagons made a unit to heat the spin on filter. They probably did it for that reason. Lovecraft had the same problem I believe and switched the spin on filter with a heat exchenger.

I assume that the vegtherm you mentioned is before the spin on filter, and the fuel hose is painfully warm. The spin on filter would also be very warm after a few minutes of use. The fattywagon type filter heater would be very beneficial at startup, but once started your vegtherm should create enough heat to keep things moving.

I use a very high mix of oil (filtered to 1 micron and de-watered in the garage) without the problems you are seeing (I also live in a normally warm climate). Have you tried a settling test on the fuel in the tank? See if any fats settle out? Put the same fuel in the fridge to get an idea of what is happening.

My fridge tests with various mixtures and chemicals was educational. A 10% Kerosene mix at 35F allowed a slight cloudiness at the bottom, when the 100% oil at 35F was to thick and waxy for even the pre-filter mesh.

Does your pre-filter show any gunk? is it located before or after the vegtherm? You most likely have a very dirty tank. Oil has a way of getting that out.

Nothing to do with your issue, just for my information, what fuel hose are you using?

My clear pre filter and spin on filter is after the vegtherm. The L shaped clear filter isn't showing gunk. I am using regular 5/16th fuel line from auto zone.

How long are you letting the oil settle for?
If your getting oil with any kind of fats in it I would say to filter it into a settling tank and let it settle for a minimum of 1 week.
Then filter again, 5 microns or less, into cubes or another tank before fueling your car.

I had everything heated except the actual filter. Still had issues. I wrapped the filter with a couple of tight wraps of hose with hot coolant in it and I have not had any of these issues since. The filter can dissipate a lot of heat quickly especially sitting in the wind under the hood.

I was planning on using a nomex blanket over my filter, should work OK, except for the initial changeover.

No, I feel a loss of power. That is when I'm running 100% veggie. I think my best bet is to heat the spin on filter. I know a couple of guys who do single tank conversions just with the stock primary and secondary fuel filters. I dont know how they do it, but they get away with it. I'm also going to experiment by adding another large filter. What do you think my best bet is guys? Heating the spin on filter, or adding another filter all together, or both?
