Can i use ground nut oil as SVO?
Hi,
now that i've got a diesel, i've been told to get the used frying oil from my local fish and chip shop. however, he uses ground nut oil, so i'm wondering if this is okay to filter and use. i looked in the container outside and the used oil was liquid. please can anyone clarify this for me. many thanks stumbler |

In this context, "Groundnut" is another word for "peanut" -- you can use peanut oil, thus you can use this.

Heck, I have even run butter in my benz. As long as you de-water and filter properly, I don't think that there is a cooking oil that you can't use.

Yep! As long as you have the facility to filter it properly it should work just fine.
Rudolf Diesels' first engines ran on peanut/ground nut oil. He said something to the effect "truely an engine powered by the sun"......because it could be powered by any type of veg oil extracted from plants grown locally in any developing country in the world.
