Right... I consider him a long time good friend. But unfortunately he does not have the passion for Merecedes like we do, he thinks of his Mercedes as another vehicle to run to the ground while commuting. If he gets at least 2 years life out of it, he would extremely happy and it would cover the cost of purchasing it and converting it to run on WVO. I am sure after it pays for itself, he will be upgrading to a Diesel SUV or Pickup. Hopefully then I can convince him to go a better veg-system route.

I wonder why Modern Marvels didn't go with a real kit like the Greasecar, Frybrid, or the Vormax which all have a lot more engineering involved than slapping on off the shelf equipment and making false and misleading claims.

Most of the cars I see tooling around with the kits are smoking badly and or running very rich...

i wonder how long before that filter is completely blocked with dirt, debri, wax and thick viscous wvo so much that you really have fuel starvation while traveling in the ever so flowing california traffic.
i also wonder what kind of pressure that "booster pump" is adding to the system. with too much and some of that wax and dirt could literally go straight through the "block" of the filter and clog the filter media itself. this is all assuming, since i have never seen such a filter in my entire life.

The cylinder walls will become polymerized thus lowering compression. this has been in my experiance.

The fuel heater is a recent addition to their "system".

Until about a year ago, Lovecrap said the fuel didn't even need to be heated! Even before that, they were just drilling into stock fuel filters rather than having a special base.

I think there might be some misconception around here about what running veg is all about. I noticed a couple people saying that they thought the kit looked "adequate for warmer weather, etc etc etc..." To me, and that was the first time I saw it, that particular kit looks like complete junk. I bet with 90° ambient temps it gets the fuel to maybe 110 or 115 at the IP inlet, and it will cool down to ambient while its in the hard lines. Maybe 145 at the filter head, but it will lose through the first 6" of uninsulated line. Definitely never gets the fuel to 160 anywhere in that entire system (I doubt it due to the tiny size)... I'd also argue that that filter doesn't filter a whole hell of a lot... Furthermore, for that much money you could have a decent little mig machine which will get you well on your way to building yourself a decent kit with *gasp* get this, 2 tanks!!! There's no way you can possibly make a reliable, safe (for the engine's sake) 1 tank system.. Thats my argument at least... My system has a separate, heated veg tank, a fphe, a heated (coolant jacketed cartridge type) filter, coolant heated fuel lines all around (every inch), everything is tightly insulated, and I still only get 160 at the pump inlet on a hot day. I use electric injector line heaters to get it to the 220 area before injection. Personally, if you give a hoot about the longevity of the motor, I would consider nothing less... besides it costs you less in the long run to spend a little more at the start.

Hey all, We can harp on this guy, and conversion kit, too. The problem is that this is a more or less, private forum, and web site. The only way to stop this guy, or set the public straight about him, by publishing something. Unfortunately, No one who watches the pay-channels will ever hear what we say, or even hear us out. They're already sold on the systems, because of the T.V. and the U-Tube vid.

Here's a part of a yahoo group post

"My 1987 190DT single tank Lovecracf conversion lasted
about 8,000 miles before I had some serious problems
(rough idle, cokeing on the injectors to indicate
coking on the rings and cylinders). I'm on biodiesel
now, and I run an additive monthly to try to break
away the coke from my previos WVO use. As a general
rule, the turbos will last a little longer as the
presence of more O2 helps it burn more cleanly. I
suspect my lead foot might help keep the combustion
temp higher, too, as I've heard many dino-diesel users
say that diesels last longer when they are worked
hard. That is a theory I like!"

On that note, I wonder how many engines are coking the cylinder walls and injectors. Have any owners been reporting problems or documenting problems?

Lovecraft is in LA. TV shows are in LA. There's no way they were about to send a production company from LA to Northampton, MA to profile Greasecar.

Good point, if I had known the filming date I would have used my lightning quick reflexes and grabbed the camera, film and all to save the rest of the world from such rubbish.

It's all marketing. The product doesn't matter. Sad but true . He is marketing to an enviromental crowd with the veggie oil, people that have the funds to say, Hey thats great....I'll take two. Then when the problems start, the owners simple move on to the next big thing, Leaving what was once a great car sitting to rot. I am sure that at somepoint in the future, some lawsuit will close this place down, But sadly, only to open under another name if the movement to alternitive fuels is still going strong.
On the bright side of this is the fact that after these conversions trash the cars, those of us that did not run with their logic will have a better supply of parts= better looking cars + fewer of them on the road will also drive our investment in them up

Similar things can be said for Greasecar, Frybrid, et. al. I have yet to hear of a kit coversion that actually heats the oil adequately.

And hopefully it will kill WVO use in the eyes of the public so there is more to go around for those of us who have our $@!& together.
