WVO Clears up Knocking Cylinder! No Joke!
I've had a pinging number 2 cylinder on my 603 300d for while. I loosened the lines to find which one was doing it and it stopped pinging when the #2 line was loosened so I figured probably a bad or dirty #2 injector. So... I am all out of Diesel purge so I thought I'd try something... I had a jar of WVO sitting around. I think it's a good clean up agent. I know people say it cokes things up but what the heck, I tried something today. I stuck the fuel supply line in the jar and the return line as well. I ran the car at around 2500 up and down for a few minutes and the pinging stopped all together! Then I switched it back to diesel and it's sounding good and clean again.
So... It seems that a few minutes of Waste Veg Oil may be a cheap cure for a dirty injector.

Wvo as a cheap diesel purge it seems? That slight amount of time will cause no side issues in the engine either. We might be able to borrow about 8 oz of vegatable oil from our wives without them knowing from time to time.

Seeing one brown cow does not make all cows brown, as my father used to say.

Why not just run 95% of time on WVO while you are at it? If you really feel bad, go tithe to the guy at Exxon every week if your heart desires.
My OM603 runs much smoother, quieter on WVO than dino. My wallet doesnt seem to mind either.
