we have one in the shop now, does seem like a crappy design, has a dead #3 cylinder, not sure if it is related to the conversion yet.

turned out not related to the oil conversion, valve lash adjuster was stripped and caused the valve to be way too tight, not allowing #3 to build compression.

if you read between the lines, he is a mercedes mechanic who had a customer bring a car in for repair. the customer told him, "my car runs on vegetable oil, lovecraft converted it..." and he said, "jumping jeezus on a pogo stick, wtf are you talking about?"

it turned out to be something unrelated to the vegoil use, but he's still shaking his head and saying, "learn something every day, i'll tell you what."
