It's a shame that people are just regurgitating marketing information that is fed to them from lovecraft or other articles instead of checking the facts for themselves, it's just furthering the lies and making it harder and harder for the truth about those a**holes known.

*sigh*

Are you talking about the shaggy looking dude dumping cooking oil into the red Mercedes with a soda bottle funnel? I just saw that on modern marvels.

hey, any publicity for alternate fuels is good publicity. sadly, it'll probably boost their business, but it will also get people to look more closely at the practicality of using less petroleum.

But where are these facts? are there any documented facts that this system is a car-destroyer? or any one tank system?

I believe it is! i am with you on that! I am just wondering where these facts are...I tested the system and it is heating the oil to a pathetic 110f, thats a fact!!!

110F is better then the ambient temperature for oil,,, remember the IP was designed to pump diesel fuel at sub zero temperature,,, now how thick is that stuff? Granted the diesel will warm up with use, but it's still gonna be thick. WVO on the other hand will thin out enough at 110F to readily combust in a well tuned diesel. (IMHO, that and a few summer's worth of experimentingwith wVO)

my 2c

The bad is they are selling a crappy system,

but they must do some good pr to get the coverage they get now & then.

If I was their competition and putting out a good system for conversions I would start to get my marketing sh!# together.

I saw the same show and was saddened to see who they chose to show case.
They also got it wrong with the classic misnomer of Rudy Diesel. Diesel was trying to make his engine run on coal dust not peanut oil. The peanut oil trick was done by the Otto engine company at the Paris exhibition with Diesels concept engine.www.biomich.com/inform_Nov_2001.pdf

lovecraft's system is bound to give wvo/bio the same bad rap that GM did to diesel cars in general... how does the general public like diesels at the moment?
they don't.
Thanks GM.
in 20 years will we be saying the same of lovecraft?

That graph is little misleading. Diesel fuel is around 4cst (@40C) and pant oils have to go to >160C to get down there.

The thing about their system is that it works. There are tons of people in L.A. driving these cars on wvo/svo on this system. Im one of them! i am well over a year on this system and I have had very few problems.

I dont think they have to do PR because the reality is these cars work. You can say that there competition should put out a better system and put them out of business, but if that is not a single tank system, they dont have a shot in this market.

Lovecraft is taking advantage of the fact that these cars could probably run unconverted on VO, for some amount of time in this climate, and whatever the problems that this will cause, it takes time for them to surface. There has not been a backlash here yet.
I installed an inline temp. gauge just after the lovecraft filter/heater, before the fuel enters the IP. My highest temp reached was 110f! that took close to 30 minutes of driving to reach! My daily commute is under 12 minutes. I would say that I am almost always running on sub 90f oil (just a guess, temp gauge starts at 100f)

Any of the MB's can run "unconverted" on WVO. Mythbusters proved that.

Just because they can does not mean they should or that it's good for them.

EDIT: I just find it kind of funny that your sig says "running W.V.O. with Davco Filter, Vegetherm and Injection Line Heaters" instead of saying that you have a Lovecraft system and the text under your avatar says"crap conversion victim" even though you are basically praising it in your last post.

I list it as a davco filter because I could not believe that lovecraft just put another companies product in the car and slapped their sticker on the bumper and called it a done deal. and I dont want anyone to think I am supporting them, it was supposed to be funny......and the injection line heaters and vegetherm aren't part of the lovecraft system. I added that to try to save my injectors and IP.

I absolutely was not praising lovecraft! I am just saying (maybe not clearly) that if you dont know anything about these cars, it looks like lovecraft is doing a good job. People are driving around on vegie oil all over L.A. if you dont know about these cars it looks pretty good. My dad thinks its great..."you just dump corn oil in the tank? are you serious? it runs so good!" I was trying to explain why they are all over the media. as far as most people here can tell this is a great system.

Edit: did you read post #5 on this thread??? Am I not being clear?
