Lovecraft, up close and personal

I saw my first Lovecraft conversion today. I was at my Local Indy getting a crush ring (another story) when I pulled in next to a 123 wagon. It looked pretty clean so I was checking it out, when I saw a sticker on it proclaiming "Lovecraft".

It turns out it belonged to the guy next in line, so I asked him if I could check it out. When we got our stuff he pop'd the hood for me. He said the LC system was new (in the Last 6 months) and put 3k miles on it with no problems.

It looked different from some of the versions I've seen posted here. No big glass "jar". It seemed to consist of an auxlery fuel line pump, 1 heating unit that was in the screwed into where the large fuel filter would go. And another heating /filter unit mounted to the top front cross member. Where the ID tag is, in fact this unit was riveted in, over the vehicle info tag.

I asked him if he liked it. He said he would not do it again. He felt it was too expensive for what he got, and could have rigged a better system himself.

I'm not sure if he installed this himself or what. I didn't bother to ask. I just wanted to see one for myself. And he was gracious enough to pop the hood. I kept all comments to myself...
