Smoking when switching to Biodiesel

Hi, I should start off saying I am new to Mercedes and Diesel cars so.... I have been looking for a while and finally found my MBZ. I have driven it around 800 miles so far with no problems. I decided to start trying biodiesel so I filled up with b20. After a day or so (50-60 miles) I started noticing it smoking a bit and I think fumes were coming into the cabin. I bought new fuel filters in anticipation of the switch but thought it would take a couple of fill ups with bio to start noticing anything. Is it possible that a clogged fuel filter is causing the smoke? I have not noticed a power loss. Anyway any experience on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Alex

You may have an exhaust leak in the downpipe.

It may also be a fuel line leaking onto the exhaust.

what color smoke ? white ,black, bluish? any smoke with just the dino diesel? whitish smoke would be a bad head gasket, burning some antifreeze. black smoke is excess fuel ,lightl black smoke is somewhat normal, bluish smoke is unburned fuel ,eiher motor is still cold or poor compression. I run b100 with very little smoke at startup when cold .

BioD should smoke less, and the smoke (like on acceleration) should be more haze than dark smoke, especially in the higher percentage BioD.

The inside smell is another issue. I would definitely check out the exhaust system. I had a very small crack in the expansion area (300SDL) and it would be most noticeable at start up. The sooner you get that fixed, the better (for a number of reasons)
One main PITA is still getting the 'smoke' off of the windshield (inside) I have cleaned it with vinegar, ammonia, and a number of other things, and finally seem to get most of the crap off.
