It has a replacement speedo gage, you can see the white marks all the way around where the paint got scratched, those are only visible on cars that had the speedo gage removed and a used replacement installed from another car...

More simply probably a roll back.

Unfortunately, that simply does not happen. I've tried it on the dyno and the graph between baseline and pure water injection is exactly the same.

My tipoff was the lack of texture on the steering wheel in the 10 & 2 positions. I've got 150kmi and my steering wheel still doesn't look that smooth. Must have been those sandpaper gloves the PO wore while driving

Auction Ended

I wonder who is the sucker who bid on it for $5,100.00!?!

Another note, I love his command of the English language.

Quote: “This auction is for a very unique 1982 300SD Veggie Turbo Diesel that has been converted professionally by Green-Benz to run WVO, SVO, BioDiesel, Diesel, or any combination...”

Wrong! Since something either is or is not one of a kind, then "very" is a grammatically incorrect qualifier as something is not "very" "one of a kind".

Go back to English writing school buddy and post your ad for another sucker again!

The water injection system that I mentioned above supposedly did help, but it was completely different. I wish I could remember the name.

It was modified to run six strokes per cycle: intake, compression, power, compression, water injection, power, exhaust. The water was injected with something that resembled a diesel injector at the top of the second compression stroke. Supposedly it was very efficient and ran very cool (no coincidence there) but was still in the research stage.

With the tactics the seller is trying to pull, I wouldn't be surprised if he bid on his own auction from another user account (or had a friend do it), to try and drive up the price.

I am amazed 16 bids were put on it... of course it is private so you can't see who they are. I feel bad for people who want one of these old diesels but aren't educated enough on it to know when they are being scammed. I mean... I don't know much, but I know a missing air cleaner when I see one!

Relisted.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320173215258&fromMakeTrack=true

Notice it no longer gets 60mpg, only "greatly increases MPG" with the hydrogen system.

Can you flag things on ebay? This really seems wrong. This isn't someone just hyping up their old beater, but actually seems to be a genuine scam that some poor person might fall for, and they're covering their tracks as they go.

Unfortunately, if you read the terms on the bottom of the page, I think that legally they can get away with it.

And there we have it!

Dear om617-power,
Hi,
Its a guess (60mpg), since these older vehicles arn't able to be connected to a diagnosis device. Since people like proof, and i cannot provide it on these cars so i dont want to list a figure i cannot back. -John
