(bracing for the usual anti-wvo maelstrom from Forced Induction and crew)

uhhhmmm How about a big no on that idea buddy

1) SVO is illegal.. it is an untaxed, illegal fuel
2) Common Rail + Veggie that will probably not be particulate free = a very very big repair bill since the high pressures will cause the fuel to polymerize. Have you seen the price of new common rail components?

3) Go to 1

Have you considered Biodiesel? Sure.. homebrew might not be taxed but I would rather run that other than a fuel that.. is not supposed to be ran in a "modern" diesel engine..

stick with D2 or Biodiesel/Biodiesel blends

Smile illegal?? particulates

i love the hole (on pupose ) illegal fuel schpeel.

of course it's okay to go a little over the posted speed limit. it's illegal but hey "i was riding with the flow of trafic" and who ever said don't pass on the wrong side of that solid yellow line yet it happens all the time, and lets not get into something like the federal reserve printing money which may or may not be unconstitutional. or praying. or just reading a bible at work (a koran okay but not a king james). and you mean to tell me that it's illegal for 2 people of the same sex to "live" together.

illegal. it's illegal because 1. how do you regulate or tax this backyard enterprise. 2. epa "hasn't ........

you can pay tax on WVO/VO. it's a hassle but you can. and many do.
(and exactly how much tax is that prius or vw tdi paying compared to the honda accord efi.)

particulates. do you or any one else verify the level of particulates in your pump diesel fuel. but hey why is that fuel filter on my car any way.

from what i've seen the wvo people filter their oil to 5 micron or even 1 before putting it in the tank.

i could say more cause there's more to be said. do your home work. or say in my HUMBLE opinion.

I could see the tank of a sprinter getting dipped because they are mainly commercial vehicles in the US

Go Biodiesel.. even homebrew... last I checked the fuel system on those engines cost big money

Don when they dip those tanks they are looking for >8ppm of red petroleum dye, not crisco.

the sprinters food

i'd go biod also unless you plan on two tanks and heating the oil. the viscosity of straight oil is of course higher than petro d or bio d. the quality of the oil you use is just as important as the deisel fuel you use.

this is in part what leads to the problems people have with vo/wvo (lack of basic eng maint will cause engine failure for the same reasons even running on deisel). the immediate problem with vo this time of year would be not being able to start because the fuel is solid. the high viscosity leads to the polymirization and coking because it results in bad or no spray pattern. vo basically gets squirted into combution chamber and onto cylinder walls and doesn't burn completely. it acumulates. your enigine fails.

(polymerization it seems is also inhibited by adding some pump fuel (the have all those nice additives in them.))

heat the oil to 170-190 F and the viscosity is now at petro d levels. problem is over come. but again some engines (like people) are more tolerant of alternate fuels.

best place i've found for info on biod and vo/wvo is the following
http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x

these guys are into this down to molecular concepts. there are threads on legalities and taxation issues as well as threads on applications by vehicle, and nuts and bolts how to's wether it's home brew, or VO filt dewater and collection techniques.

Good reading for anyone that wants to really know about using Vegtable oil in Modern Deisel engines.
