'77 123 SVO stalling out
I am currently running a '77 123 on svo. The fuel is filtered to 2 microns. The car runs fine most of the time and starts the same as it did with diesel. the problem I am having is that every 50-100 miles the car bogs down while driving and stalls. This happens completely randomly. Sometimes a couple blocks out of my driveway, sometimes 20 miles away. Sometimes two weeks apart, sometimes twice in a day. After a sit and a hard time starting it will idle rough for a while then resume normal operation. I noticed that the primary fuel filter is picking up some debris. I figure this is the result of the grease "cleaning" such an old fuel tank. I've replaced both filters and can tell they are clean however the problem still lingers. I also replaced the fuel lines with viton under the hood, but not the ones near the tank. that will be my next little project. I'm beginning to think that this is something other than complications due to SVO. I'm thinking it may also be the fuel pump, but that doesn't seem like something that would work sometime and not others. Also I live in Florida so I don't think fuel temp. is an issue, especially since this happens at operating temperature. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like you could be getting air into the fuel lines. The hose may not be leaking fuel out, but could be leaking air in while running. My air leak was in the short hose connected to the fuel tank. RichC .

Thanks. That could be it. i was planning on replacing those hoses tomorrow anyway with the viton R9. I'll try it out. Did your car have similar symptoms?

Not much of a system really. I've replaced the fuel lines, doing the ones by the tank in a couple minutes. That's it. I'm filtering the oil through two racor units 30 micron inline to 2 micron at room temperature. Then straight into the tank.

Yes, same symptoms. While your under there you may want to check and clean the in tank strainer/ filter. RichC .

So you are running 1 tank? If so, this is likely the source of your problems. SVO will not clean an engine like bio-D does. If used cold (when I say cold I mean <160F) it will clog all sorts of things and generally destroy the motor. I wouldnt suggest a single tank wvo system. Sorry I cant offer much help, it could be as simple as a vac leak (easily solved by installing inline electric fuel pump made by FASS to put fuel sys under pressure instead of vac). Or it could be more complicated, clogged main filter, ruined IP, bad injectors, the list goes on and on with single tank cars running wvo.
