Veggie Oil or Biodiesel Fintails

Do any old fintail diesel ride on alternative fuels??
If so could you please direct me to them or introduce yourself so I can ask a few questions.

I have owned several 123's and they do great on the veggie oil.
Just curious b/c wow those old 60's finbacks are gorgeous.

I have a veg oil w115 - suppose that's halfway there. What diesel engine came with the fintails the 200D?

I have a 617.95 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine in my 1967 W111 fintail. It's not running yet as I still have to get a radiator/oil cooler assembly for it, relocate the oil tower, etc. I will run it on B99 like my 1979 W116 300SD when it's drivable.

That is awesome Squiggle.
I have thought a lot about dropping an engine out of an early 80's 123 into an old fintail. Did the engine mounts mate up correctly or did it require some mods??

The OM 621 was used in the late 180Dc, the 190D and the 200D, roughly from 1958-1968, replaced by the OM615 in the 220D

I thought the W110 200D was also a OM615 series motor?

The engine mounts line up correctly but they need to be moved toward the engine a little. Also, the engine mount shock absorbers need to be installed. The engine was from a 1979 300SD W116.

The engine bolted right up to the stock manual 4 speed column shift transmission and the transmission didn't even need to be moved at all. One thing is the oil tower gets in the way of the steering column and brake master cylinder, so it needs to be relocated.

The engine is approximately the same size as the 6 cylinder gasoline engine that was in there and it has about the same horsepower but more torque.
