Can SVO kit be removed?!

Once the SVO kit is on the engine is it difficult to remove?! What would you check on the engine before considering a purchase of one that used to run SVO (somewhat unsuccessfully, it sounds like)?

I wouldn't waste my time on one if it was run incorrectly on SVO. But thats just from my experience.

It can be pretty easily removed, you'll just need some new hoses probably. If it's been done incorrectly, there good be a whole slew of problems with then engine. Definately check the engine before buying.

I speak from experience, having resurrected several SVO disasters.

The damage has included, IP, fuel hoses, corroded fuel filter housings, injectors, fuel tanks, as well as crankcase oil that had the viscosity of molasses, not to mention the smell that never seems to go away.

Based on my experiences, I would never pay more than scrapyard price for a car run on SVO, since you can always add several hundred dollars to fix the SVO damage, plus the cost to repair the normal issues that are always there on a 25+year car. $100-$200 for an average one, up to $500 for a nicer appearing one with a rust-free body and good interior.

These old MB's are about as common as rocks, so look around and find one that hasn't been butchered and you will have fewer headaches in the end.
