Poll: How many Veggie Oil Miles

Please vote how many miles you have put on ONE car running veggie oil. If you have multiple VO powered vehicles vote once for each car, you can select multiple categories. We've all seen the veg oil arguments around here. Just wondering how many veggie oil miles people have on their cars. This is for veg oil only, not the biodiesel powered cars. Also if you wouldn't mind stating what the car is/was, if you are still running VO, or if you stopped why, and what your VO system is. I'm trying to collect some data to see what we can find. We all know the arguments so please leave the arguing elsewhere.

I have 41k miles of VO use in my 240D, and still going strong. It still fires up no problem in below freezing weather. I've had no issues thus far. I filter to 1 micron and dewater the VO. I have a two tank system with a coolant heated tank and fuel lines, a coolant heater fuel filter, and electric heater, injector line heaters, an auxiliary fuel pump, and a delay timer that closes my return valve 2.5 minutes after I switch back to diesel to avoid putting VO into my diesel tank.

I've put a couple thousand on my improper greasecar setup--no FPHE. I just finished installing a 20 plate heat exchanger today and I'm working on insulating my fuel and coolant lines. I noticed excessive carbon build-up on my injectors which spurred my doubt. The pre-chambers still looked fine and I ran it hard on petro-diesel for a few weeks to burn off as much carbon as I could.

The only thing I've burned centrifuged filtered UVO in is my 2 tank heated system on my 2000 Dodge Cummins engine. I've run about 1K miles on my truck. I have a leak in the return circuit of UVO which seems to mix UVO in my main diesel tank ---- this is not good.

i ran a Cummins on WVO for a few thousand miles....got harder to start and then one day it wouldnt start.I ran the 83 123 rust hole swiss cheese benz for a few hundred and after i couldnt start my cummins i decides to stop.I am planning on using the wo again but I will alter its chemicaly before.I suggest not using Svo on an engine because of what i seen when taking apart the fuel lines on the CTD.alot of gunk left behind, gumming up the fuel lines.i imagine if you heat up the entire fuel delivery system this may not happen, but i dont think anyone does.

Clocked a bit over 50K veg miles on the 84 190D over an 18 month period with a two tank system. Ran with a leaking head gasket for 125K +/- before it finally blew and I euthanized the old girl. That was about two years ago and I haven't had any project time since. Pulled the veg components this past fall to install in the '85 but I can't envision that happening for another year.

1985 300D

I ran my 1985 300d on uvo/B-99 blend for 25,000 miles on my unmodified 300d. (yes it is warm down here in Florida) Only issue I had was short life of the pre-fuel filter(started using $2 clear ones at Walmart). Ran like a dream!! I just sold it last weekend and picked up a 1984 300d that I plan on running uvo in. By my calculations I am spending in fuel aprox what someone driving a car getting 60mpg would spend. I do not see a down side in these old mercedes!!

I have 67,000 on veg with my SD and a total of 167,000 miles on it. Still runs the same as it did when i bought it. Never had any mechanical issues with it due to running veg oil. I have a self designed 2 tank system. I collect and filter at home. I have saved thousands on fuel costs. More then enough to pay for the car and all the work i have done on it.

I have had it for 4.5years and hope to have it for years to come....running on veg that is. I keep hearing that my car is gonna blow up from running on veg. When is that supposed happen?

I'm asking YOU for proof

Talk is cheap.... prove it.

1984 300D in Socal. I got it in 1989 with 88,000 diesel only miles. It now has 253,980 = 165,980 trouble free WVO miles.

1980 300SD in Hawaii. I got it in 2000 with 155,000 miles. Today it has 164,000 = 9,000 trouble free WVO miles. This car lives on Maui and is used by three different drivers but the mileage is low because there aren't many places to drive there.

1985 300CD in Park City, Utah. I bought it 1995 with 102,000 miles. Today it has 192,800 miles = 90,200 (+/-). No fuel related problems.

I'll call the shop owner where I work in SoCal since he has records on his two veggie burners and eight to ten other WVO burners belonging to his clients.

I'm very curious why you would say that ANY use of veggie oil is abusive. What do you base that on? Do you possibly have more experience than WHunter or myself or did you take the word of some idiot who has been banned from this forum?

Step up and enlighten us boy.
