I have been making bio for about 8 yrs
My cost is about 30 cents a litre & I make around 110 L per week . Takes me about 4 hr a week to collect process and wash / dry. I process 3 weeks out of 5 due to processor size. I am in the process of building a processor capable of running a 320L batch to cut down on the frequency. If I had to do it all over again I would have bought a Biopro 5 yrs ago to cut down on the work. Commercial conebottom systems are vastly overpriced. My system uses a single vessel to process / wash and dry for a minimum of real estate. The naysayers of plastic tanks have not considered the bomb potential of a sealed hotwater tank filled with superheated oil. If my processor burns it takes out my garage, if an "Appleseed" blows it would take out the neighborhood. Can you say "fuel air explosion" Just my humble opinion.

Meth
I just filter the grease. No chemicals nothing is really flammable. I have spilled it on cardboard, rags, paper towels and tried to light it with mapgas it does not light. Everything that spills turns to plastic it is gross but really not a major fire risk like methonal.
I once tossed a match at an open bucket of methonal and it ignited before the match got there. That was about the time I said no more meth I am just running a two tank system. Rob |
