WVO conversion for "Euro-spec" 300D
Friends,
I have found a 1984 300D NON-turbo 300D with a Getrag 5-speed stick that i want to convert to WVO. I'd like to put a heated WVO tank in the current space where the spare tire currently fits, under the floor of the trunk. (I plan to mount the spare on top of the trunk lid, like the old British Rover 3500 configuration.) Can anyone suggest a source for a suitable round/heated tank? And for the other major parts of a system? (Frankly, I'm not excited about spending well over 1500.oo for a "set-up" for a 2000.oo car & hope to do better money-wise with a "scrounged" system.) yours, tex |

WVO
My aluminum tank welder just make me a tank for under $300. FPHE was under $100. 2 greasecar switches are about $120. About $40 for filter. And $50 for fittings to make it work. Plus $30-40 for fuel line and hose to the tank if you use PEX line. If you use rubber multiply that number times 4 or 5. So for about $700 you can have a deluxe veg system for your mercedes. I requires a little time and effort. But it will be better than any $1500 system you purchase.
Just for the record converting the car is the easy part! It is the constantly gathering and filtering grease that is the real work. Good Luck. |
