Used trans fluid????

I had a old 190d 5-speed non turbo it rusted beyond repair in our lovely new england winters and i had to get rid of it im currently looking for another. My question is has anyone ran used trans fluid mixed with diesel or straight in one of these motors. I work for ford and a few guys in the shop run there old 7.3 turbos on straight trans fluid during the summer and mixed in the winter they say that the trucks run smoother quieter abd better performance on the trans fluid i was wondering if anyonr has experimnted with
This on any of the merc motors?

Run it. Make sure you filter is down to at least 5 micron though.

Thats no problem the guys in the shop have a nice little setup on the trans flush machine to filter it into 21/2 gallon jugs

I have added ATF to my settling barrels, ran it diluted with WVO blend, filtered to 5microns, no problems to date.

TWO things to consider:

What are the additives in the trans fluid? Some of them, such as vanadium, are harmful to the injections pumps made by Bosch.

How well can you filter it for sure?

If you can get the first batch after they change the 5 micron filter, it would be ok, but I'd love to see what happened if you filtered it two or three times with new filter elements.

The old Dexron ATF was an excellent additive, even type F was usable. I have concerns that the guys doing the filtration are not going to care about your engine as much as you do.

Can you let it sit and see what / how much settles?

I had a cubee full that I got from a dealership. After 2 months there was no visible particulate in the bottom of the cubee. My ratio of ATF to WVO was rather small though.
