Need advice for 1998 Dodge 12-valve

I just bought the truck of my dreams--RAM 2500 2WD extended cab Cummins diesel. (A one-owner, by the way). I can't wait to convert to WVO. My 1992 Dodge has a great system that I installed on it, but this new truck is quite different. Does anybody out there have PLANS for converting a '98 model? Or suggestions? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks......

12 valve conversion

I had one and they move a lot of fuel. Use really good fitting and really good hose.
I would suggest a tall thin tank mounted above the bed but so that you can see over it, make the tank go from all the way on one side to all the way on the other side. Make the coolant connects on the drivers side of the truck with the fuel connection there also. Make sure you have a vent on your tank. And possibly a return connection.
I would use 1/2 in Pex Line from Home Depot or Lowe's for both the fuel line and the coolant line. Get Push-Lock to Flare fittings so that you can remove the ends. To get a good seal heat the PEX line and use the back something to widen the PEX Line then force the PEX over the Push-Lock fitting. This will give the best seal without hose clamps or metal lines. Wrap those line together with electricial tape and then insulate with plumbing insulation and wrap that also.
For the engine bay get a big FPHE, 26 plates would probably be good. Get two filter mounts from the local semi truck parts location. Make one for diesel and one for Veg. The veg gets wrapped in heater hose. You will have to make new connections for the fuel lines. The simpliest way is to make the fuel pump suck instead of push into the fuel filters. (It is a very strong pump). TO do that you will have to make the return line that normally goes to the diesel fuel filter return to a common connection. At that connection have the diesel return to the diesel tank and the veg return to the veg tank. Or you can loop the veg back into the veg fuel in line. For the fuel to the engine and the return you will need two selector vavles. I like the large greasecar valves. Not the Hydroforce ones! The fuel from the diesel tank will go to the normally open side of the fuel selector valve and the Veg will go to the

conversion

the normal closed side. The common side goes to the lift pump that feeds the FPHE then to the P7100. On the Return side the Common is the two lines from the engine and the normally open goes to the diesel tank and the normally closed side goes to the veg tank.
When it is wired to work the fuel tank selector and the return valve turn on at the same time. To Flush the fuel selector turn back to diesel and the return stays in return to veg tank for the next 10 seconds.

Did I miss anything?

wow, I'm envious! I am still searching for my 12V cummins as it has to be 4wd for my mountain driveway. I plan to go the same route and get a year-round 2-tank conversion going ASAP (when I find the truck). If only truck owners were interested in trading for luxury MBs

grease-lightnig: Thanks for the good conversion plan! Any chance you do hands-on guidance with these?

I have gathered the FPHE and 2 valves.
Do you think a thick poly tank with coolant looped fuel pickup would be alright in the truck bed during southeast winters of maybe lows in 20's (bit colder than FL)?
Perhaps some extra insulation and a bed cover to keep out the elements eventually.

Oh yeah...I need the truck first!
Anyone have some leads down south?

Grease

Remember that the grease in the tank does not have to heat anything it just has to get out of the tank and to the FPHE so it can be heated. I find a simple aluminum tank with a welded in aluminum coil with the fuel comming out of the middle is the best set-up.
I have a good story -- I was delivering a car to NY (Buffalo) and it was so cold I could not see out the windshield I made it to a rest stop for the night and started out in the morning. I realized that I truelly had a good grease set-up. Just needed a better heater in the truck! But it heated the grease up an switched over rather quickly.

Those cummins are awesome. My friend has one that has the big Bosch ip like our benzs. He pulled dipstick out and his motor oil was still golden like new and he said it had almost 3000 miles on it. Regular rotella. Ive never seen that. My oil is always black the minute I start it up. Do you mbs ever have clean oil?
