Veggie oil cross country trip, looking for fuel

Howdy geasers and all,
I am planning a first cross-country drive, along I-40 from NC to CA and back again this April.
I hope to be driving my Dodge cummins on a freshly installed 2 tank system.

I am looking for members help in locating/providing filtered veggie oil to help fuel our race from coast to coast. If you can help or know someone that can in close proximity to the interstate, please send me a message

Free or low cost is naturally preferred, but I would even like to visit the tax-paying coops!

I can also offer delivery of good used w123 parts if needed or to trade;)

road trip

I usually take all of my grease with me. Especially when I had a CTD truck. I drove to and from NY atleast a dozen times. I requires a lot of work but you know you have good quailty fuel!

I'm in Nashville area 10 min off I 40. I like meeting fellow greasers and benz nuts passing through

Cool, I will send you a message soon biopete.
WE will be ready for a top off by Nashville, plus a nice leg stretch, while kicking tires on our projects, before moving along to our first destination = Memphis family

I am in Amarillo, TX which the 40 passes right through. I don’t have my WVO plant set up yet, but if you wanna stop for a beer and talk MBZ/WVO let me know.

Cool. Give me some notice. I can usually work at home if it's a weekday. I have a lift too. Looking forward to it. Did you get the frybrid kit?

Thanks for all the welcomes and views folks.

Wanted to up-date that we play to return along I-80 towards our MB delivery destination in Maryland, and I could use some recycled fuel plus friendly handshakes along this path

Also should give fair warnings, that I am traveling with a 2 year old! ;)

Please either PM me or put up a list of the W123parts that you have.If there are any of interest I am in NW IN 5 minutest from I 80 I could meet you at the oasis about mile 55 as I am just south of that and can enter from the county road that services it. At least the very least I'll buy you a bite to eat, and shoot the breeze, only McD's there that I know of.

If you are interested in w123 parts from me you could start with this tread:
FS: 1984 300TD amercian wagon part out
Or pretty much request any used part you may be looking for, as I have stripped and stored a few w123s.

sloride: After double checking our addresses, we will be continuing on I-80/90 through IN. But I cannot find the Oasis you are talking about?

For starters on parts I am interested in a vacuum pump of know condition ie:rebuilt less than fifty thousand miles, rear axels, possibly a full rear differential. As far as the oasis I just guessed at mile 55, La Porte (rt 39= mile 49- and South Bend west exit= mile 72 so look in between there unless closed for remodel?

When are you heading out NCfriend? Hope i didn't miss you. Two year olds are awesome. They really don't get terrible until three. . We have a great place for you and the family to take a break and stretch.

NCfriend 03-23-2013 10:30 AM

Cool guys, our route is really taking shape but I could use more fuel stops and visits especially on the return I-80/90 to I-70/76

Biopete: sent messages, sounds like a nice stop for Monday April 15th afternoon

Sloride: I was waiting to be certain of our route your way, now I will definitely be coming through. Will PM about parts; can't verify a vac pump that nice but I have a rebuilt 240D diff in hand for low gears or a 2.88 on my '85 wagon that needs to be removed.

SD300: If I end up in BC, I will need more than a fill-up from ya ;)

w123love: I could do lunch with ya Wednesday April 17th? Any oil connections yet?
Do you have a good connection for ceramic coating manifolds?

sloride 03-23-2013 04:14 PM

I was most interested in one of known condition that i could just slap right in but would like to know what you want for the one you have and I would just rebuild before install. Please keep us updated on when you be passing through. Also check your PM and let me know if want any of the filters, the price is right!

I am willing to help any members and enthusiasts passing through my neck of the woods. I am in Arlington for the next few months until we sell our home and bid our nations capital adieu.

I have fuel shares with friends. I am hoping to head south to Florida and then west through Texas in the next few months. I am hoping that I can find VO along our journey as well. I will start a thread at that time.

Best of luck to NC and we welcome the 2 year old !
Safe travels.
