Great video of unconverted diesel on oil

while, the oil he poured into his tank looked pretty clear... if it's indeed unfiltered or "a little bit gloopy" I feel very sorry for his car... I'm sure the "little bit of weeping" is just his spilling it when pouring it before the funnel was used...
I CERTAINLY hope he did not pour that bucket of glop in the tank!

Yea, the 'weeping' would've been from the spilling at the start.
Apologies on behalf of the rest of us Brits who know it was Rudolf, not Wolfgang Diesel... Amazingly, they changed the law since this was made- you can use 5000 litres 'alternative fuel' a year now in the UK tax-free.

Interesting, who would have thought that stuff could be poured right into the fuel tank and the car would drive 200 miles ? New and amazing discoveries thought up everyday.
Wolfgang must be Rudof`s brother, or this guy needs to bone up on his history. I seem to have read, that there was an abundance of Coal dust, and the original concept was to build an engine to burn it. of course it didn`t work out. That leak is what came out the drain tube for his spilling it. Charlie

It is not a question if a Mercedes Diesel will run on WVO; it is a question of how long it will run before something is damaged.

I have driven my SD a good distance on about 13 gallons of VVO before just to try it out, ran very smooth and had an interesting smell. Blew the minds of the people I demonstrated it to. Haven't done it again though, far too expensive and honestly not good for the engine/injection in the long term. It has since completed 75,000+ miles on diesel since then with no issues. With the way I drive I am sure any carbon got cleaned out right away.

Filtration, and proper heating. People in the hot areas seem to have better luck running un-converted, although it's pretty cheap to slap a heat exchanger and 1/4 turn valves under the hood. Add $30 for a junkyard fuel tank, some lines, and you're set

I have read the Threads on this Forum where Others have not done so well; the same on the other Mercedes Forums I visit.
From what I have read the average Person is not going to do or learn what it takes to keep the Car running properly on WVO.

None of the comments so far fall into that category by a long shot.
Fact #1: WVO and SVO/VVO are alternative fuels. They have never been, nor are they now, a mainstream fuel for any mass-production automotive diesel engine in stock form, here in North America. Fact #2 - WVO and SVO/VVO are acceptable as alternative fuels when used with the correct auxiliary fuel systems, and have been used successfully for decades. The technology involved for their sustainable use (dual tanks, switching, heating the oil to replicate the viscosity of diesel) has been developed by people who have in some cases devoted decades to research, or simple trial and error technical development. Saying that straight veg of any form is a direct diesel substitute is no more technically correct than saying the same about a mix of used engine oil and diesel or kerosene (to pick on one example of another 'alternative' fuel some folks use on this forum). What you do with your car is your business, so if you want to do this stuff great, knock yourself out, I'm sick of arguing on that point. That isn't the issue. What is, is that this is a technical forum that people visit in terms of reliable technical info... and "See, I can dump this stuff in my fuel tank and my car still runs" doesn't make the cut. (Well maybe except for our forum member who lives in Death Valley and runs straight VO in his SD.... at those temps a flat-plate heat exchanger might actually be cooling the VO... LOL.)
