Question Install OE Bosch-Style Prefilter AFTER 30-Plate Heat Exchanger ?

my new 30 plate heat exchanger from WVO Designs is awesome, it makes my fuel "red" hot, even the fuel tank gets pretty hot from the fuel return.....

question is, obviously the fuel coming back from the tank isnt "red" hot anymore, and everyone usually uses multiple prefilters (in addition to an electric booster fuel pump), so the prefilters can obviously take that heat, but will the plastic of the prefilter i put on AFTER the heat exchanger be affected by the app. 220 degree constant high temperature ??

should i just take that filter after the heat exchanger off, and run just hose into the fuel liftpump ?? so i dont melt that filter ?

or is that plastic usually designed to withstand such constant heat ?

thanks for input....

Justin

this is the 30 plate flat plate heat exchanger i got.......built super heavy duty, weighs alot.....gets the fuel so hot so fast i bet u could run a dumptruck off this exchanger.....

only cost 80 bucks plus tax and shipping (just what u see in the pic, no fittings or anything) so i'm super satisfied....

Maybe as a test you could put the pre filter in a pot of boiling water for a while to see what happens. Also you might be able to put the pre filter before the fphx.

i have 2 prefilters before the exchanger before the electromagnetic fuel boost pump.....

to try to answer my own question, i took about a 2 mile drive earlier when i was done installing, and it didnt melt then......but that speaks nothing to what will happen after hours and hours.....

im sure someone knows one way or the other, from their own experiences....

Are you talking about the clear, plastic filter with the 90* bend which goes right into the fuel pump ? If so, you're worrying about nothing. I actually ran an exta one of these since my WVO was super clean but I always found "floaties" in my clear filters. Not sure what they are, just floating pieces of crap. I had a 30 plate HE and never an issue, and I ran that system for 4 years. I am going with the 50 plate HE, 12" x 5" x 5" since my battery is relocated to the trunk. I can superheat at least a quart of fuel before the switch over.

cool, so i can put that filter back on, i figured 2 prefilters before the electromagnetic booster pump, and then this third one after the fphe.....just trying to minimize the chance of any "chunklets" making their way all the way to my canister fuel filter, making me have to change it more often....
