123 series - Putting the electric fuel pump near the tank on a 1-tank system

i am sure someone has done this and has figured it out, i am looking for some input......i was thinking of maybe finding a way to route a fuel line hose from the bottom where it comes out the special hose on the tank screen, finding a opening to run it up into the car somewhere back there, to keep the pump protected from the elements, and then run it back down again to continue on being push-pumped (these electromagnetic pumps push better than they pull) towards the front through the factory fuel line going to the front....

any other ideas, or ways u have done it on your cars ?

I added a walbro push pump and mounted it very similarly to what they show on the **************.com website. Pretty simple, and it actually doesn't hang down any lower than anything else under the car. Not worried about it unless I accidentally run over a medium sized animal or semi truck tire tread at speed.

At which point, I'll probably have issues anyway. Ah, and I see that the forum blocks out other site's addresses. Anyway, just get some angle iron, bolt the angle iron to the flat bit of the subframe or whatever just behind where the fuel pickup drops out of the tank, and bolt the pump to the angle iron.

Apologies if I offended anyone by citing another forum/website.

Additionally, I would note I use an aftermarket HIH 3/8 fuel line, which I run right up to the outlet on the top of the pump.

wont the pump be affected by the elements, ie rainwater while driving fast etc.... ? ill post a pic of how mine looks

Looks like this. No issues for me in South Florida with water.

i see......my pump has an all metal casing, only a few seams to speak of......i suppose i could seal them with silikon and around where the wire goes in as well and then its technically sealed to the elements, i guess......we will see.....where did you take your 12 volts from back there ? just run a dual-strand cable back there ??

I did the exact same thing with my walbro pump and used a MBZsource bracket. I had the tabs welded on my bracket. Check my signature to the link to my wagon’s thread. It has a lot of pictures and info on doing this.

Ran it back from the battery, and mounted the relay over by the fusebox. used zipties to lay it alongside the brakeline.

relay ? i simply wired mine to the switched 12volt source at the temp sensor for the auxilary fan by where the evaporator is usually.....comes on and off with the car.....i run my aux fan off a switch.....i removed my shot AC system by the way.....much better airflow through the radiator and oil cooler....gets the big compressor out of the way too, easier to get at some stuff now....so i use that 12 volt circuit for my "accessories" ....
