the built vacuum pressure not being enough to pull the liquid in ?

or the vacuum pump not handling "pumping up" this much volume of vacuum in the tank ? because as far as that goes, i already know, amazing things are possible with the slow and steady rule.....an old man i used to get gas from who had the local village gas station (in germany) used to give me all the alchohol i could drink, while standing there, and he would hook up a line to the carborator of my little Fiat i had and use it's vacuum pull to, if i recall properly, "properly" withdraw and "reprocess" the fumes and moist air or whatvever from his tank system.....took like 2 hours.....he'd fill me and my car up nice, i get Obstler and beer, and my car got Super Plus 98.....he had 3 5000 liter underground tanks......so as far as that goes, i can see pulling down a 20 gallon tank to system vacuum, after driving around a while......would just take as long as it takes to pull that volume....

what are your thoughts ?

I use a 40 gallon water heater tank.
Tap into the vacuum system of the vehicle with a "t" fitting. Do not tap the line that goes to the brake booster.
Plumb the vacuum to the rear of the vehicle with 3/8" poly tubing.

It takes about 5 minutes to suck a 40 gallon tank to 25hg.
It takes less time to fill the tank with VO through a 1" ID hose.
I do not pull a vacuum while filling the tank. I do not want to risk pulling VO in to the vehicle's vacuum system. If for some reason the tank needs a recharge part way through a filling, I close the filling hose valve before I open the vacuum charging valve.

I use a strainer made from 1/8" square screen on the end of the suction hose. Anything that will pass through that will pass out of the tank just as easy.

I use this system to gather VO at home.
I use this system to gather VO on the road in the motor home.

The only safe way to process VO on the road is with a centrifuge. I use a bowl centrifuge with an inline heater. I pressurize the tank to about 5psi and control the outflow speed with a ball valve. A single pass through the system and I have clean, dry, fuel.

You can heat and filter VO on the road, but you cannot get the water out with water block filters. Water block filters work in a diesel environment, they do not work in a VO environment. Having water in your fuel with shorten the life of your IP.

I have a 55 gallon drum at the restaurant that I work at. I use a one gallon pitcher like for tea or Kool-Aid it is plastic with a spout. an old vinegar bottle with the bottom cut out, and I have a 1/2 hotel pan.

I set the hotel pan on the water filter that the drum sits next to. I count out 5 pours of the pitcher as I pour it thought the vinegar bottle into a standard cube. After each one I set the pitcher in the hotel pan so it does not drip anywhere. It was the simplest way for me since the drum is 50 feet from the driveway. And cubes might be a pain but they fit real good in trunks of vehicles.
