B100 with 1998 E300 Turbo Diesel help
Just discovered my injector areas (on top of the engine) are filled with B100, so I assume the fuel lines are leaking at the injectors.
Any experience running B100 on a 1998 E300 Turbo Diesel? Do I need to buy heavy duty fuel lines to run this Biodiesel. I really don't want to go back to Diesel. I've run 8 tanks of Biodiesel and aside from this issue, the engine has plenty of power. Thanks! |

I was under the impression that newer model cars come with fuel lines that are already B100 compatible. Yours may just be leaking due to age. Clean up what's already leaked, then start it up to see where your leak(s) is/are, and go from there.

B100 with a 98 E300 Turbo Diesel
Thanks for your input.
I'm having the return lines replaced on Wed. I will keep running Biodiesel B100. Works well, and burns cleaner. |

For 2 years I have run B100 in the summer, blending as needed in the winter. Biodiesel will deteriorate rubber fuel system parts faster than pump diesel. Last fall after a period of "spirited" driving in the '99 E300, I noticed a faint fuel odor when parked, a small puddle underneath, opened the hood to find the IP leaking. Ray @ RDM in Tiverton, RI replaced the o-rings on delivery valves, shut off valve and plastic lines. IIRC the SOV leak was hard to spot & $$ to replace but the car runs great now. I'd have to go over the PO's service records, but I think all that stuff was original- not a bad run.

I've got a friend that has been running home made 100% biod for at least 4 years in a 99 E300 with no issues. Did have to have injectors cleaned/calibrated at 286k because the fuel mileage was down around 24. Came back up to 29 after injector work.
