Might be shopping for a new pump on 1997 E300D. Can I use an alternative pump?
Silly question I know There's no way I can just take off the injection pump and get an aftermarket or rigged injection pump? I looked at used ones on ebay and they sell upwards of 400!! wow I actually bought the car to convert to straight veg oil. Any recommendations?

Any more info on why you need a new pump? $400 doesn't seem outrageous.

i bought my diesel to convert and I did that, enjoyed it for 3 years. Then a rendering company got in tight with the health dept.Forcing restaruants to use rendering company.I look for it to go nationwide. They claim and can clean traps for free, and rodent proof dumpsters.

that sucks. Someone's making big business the keeps all the smart "kids" from doing what they do best. 1997 E300D NonTurbo While fixing leak, overtightened the ip valves now it leaks a lot This is why my ip may be bad

No aftermarket pumps. You can get one rebuilt but not sure if yours would be a core candidate if the delivery valve threads are shot.
Try the classifieds here and car-part.com for a used pump if you need it. That's a national listing of dismantlers parts. Not all of course but its a nice place to search for parts.
