I make cubies. For everyone's edification...there are two types of bottle-grade High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)...homopolymer and copolymer. Homopolymer has better taste/odor characteristics, so it's used for dairy/water applications. Copoly has better UV protection, so it's used in windshield washer, pool shock, Wiffle bats (yes I make Wiffle bats). I run copoly on all my cooking oil containers, including the 35# bottle (cubie). I can't speak for other 35# bottle mfrs, but mine are copoly and resistant to UV. I pick up my WVO weekly in cubies to make my BD, and only about 1/3 of the bottles I pick up are mine.

What's killing me is the price of methanol, the cheapest I can get it is 4-5 dollars a gallon and my total cost would be 1.70 a gallon. Pump price at Sams this afternoon was 2.62 for a total savings of 92cents. converting to grease is not an option, it would be too difficult for my GMC and I just as soon not deal with wvo in my MB. even tho it is 22 years old it looks nice inside and out and everything works like new.
