Unimog 404 with a 617

May I ask the details behind you putting a 617 in a 404?

I bought my Mog specifically becase the PO had already installed the 617.952. He used the kit available in Germany for the conversion even though he is an engineer himself. The kit (bell housing replacement to clock the engine 13degrees and a few other things) cost about 2.25 grand last I heard. Do a Goggle for "Unimog 404 Dieselization" might have spelled the last word wrong.

By the way phase one didn't work out to well LOL. Cause that was before I new about the air bleed built into the fuel filter banjo bolt. Since I had installed a valve that let me run looped return or OEM return I just set it to OEM fuel return and ran a blend of fuel on the long maden vege trip. (OH to FL) It ran just fine on the blend of veg and diesel though. Had to change inline filters often though cause it seems a blend of WVO and diesel causes a reaction/bonding that makes a wax substance seperate out of the diesel. This stuff then collects in your filter.

Same filter problems here

Coach,
I am also experincing the same filter clogging that you are. I have a two-tank system and I switched from diesel to RUG in the SVO tank blend and it cleared it up mostly. As frequently as I see you on the Infopop SVO forum I'm sure you already know that. Cold filtering also helped immensly. Excuse a noob question but what exactly is a UNIMOG? Feels good to be running on SVO doesn't it?!
