BioDiesel
Anyone here using Biodiesel? I live around Chicagoland area and there is a pump that has B20. I also heard that you should change the rubber hoses with synthetic rubber called Viton if you use higher than B20. Also if there are any performance changes in using biodiesel. Thanks Phil

I use biodiesel and SVO regulary. You shouldn't have any problems with B20 & rubber fuel lines, according to the National Biodiesel Assn. I'm still using rubber on mine & haven't had any problem yet.
I doubt you'll notice any performance changes other than your exhaust smelling better. After a little while you might get a little better performance because the biodiesel cleans out your fuel system, the pump & injectors, it's a good solvent/cleaner. If you plan to use B100 you should pull your fuel tank & clean it out really well. When I started using B100 I went through a couple of fuel filters before doing that. There was a LOT of sediment from 20 years of diesel! It wasn't too hard on my 82 240D. Hope this helps

Yes, I've used biodiesel for a number of tanks in both of my diesels. Everything was fine, except for the initial clogging of the fuel filters, which I prepared for. I also heard that if the fuel line has been replaced any time in the last decade or so, it should be fine.
I got my rebate check from the Maryland Soybean Board today. Woo hoo! I paid $2.99/gal and got half of it back today. And I just jumped right in with B100. I thought it ran a bit smoother than regular diesel, smelled better and smoked less (if at all), and cleaned out the fuel system a bit. But it WAS expensive. - Ted
