Any ideas on how to keep it from raining within 24 hours of giving your MB a good washing?!?

Thanks for all of your previous suggestions - all paid off. The use of Meguiars tire cleaner on the door handles was brilliant! Took a bit of practice but turned out nicely.

Any clues on blackening the wiper arm? Repaint? Tried the Meguiars - not too good of a result.

You might want to try Mother's Back to Black.
I thought it did a pretty good job. The only negative is that it is kind of a short term fix....wants it wears/washes off you will need to re-apply it. It also does a great job on most of the other black trim on your car...like the black piece that runs through the middle of your trunk lid. You can use it or (another personal favorite of mine) STP Son-of-a-Gun with Q-tips and really make the rubber molding around your tail lights and front turn signal lights look awesome along with the rubber moldings around your doors and windows.

Mother's Back to Black works well when there isn't much oxidation. If its really bad then it only gets streaky. (even with repeat applications) Mike is right about Son-of-a-Gun really giving the "wet" look. BIG downside I noticed is that when cleaning SOG off of whatever I put it on; it turns the cleaning rag into a sludgeball.

The wiper arm is painted, use things that work on paint... Start with #7 or #9, the Mirror Glaze professional line is your best bet for something like that.
