"First Equipment Quality" brand suspension parts

I was shopping for 2001 S430 lower control arm and suspension parts. 220-330-57-11, 58-11, 94-07, 93-07. My dealer quotes me $178 and $251. A usually good supply house quoted $100 less for First Equipment Quality brand. Anybody have any experience? Phil at Fastlane does not know.
Thanks

ON the 220-330-57/58-11's the aftermarket parts are JUST that.. aftermarket quality from Turkey & or China.

On the 220-330-93/94-07's, Lemfoerder is an OE part.

Your dealer quotes are slightly above their suggested wholesale price.

Why so much suspension work on a 6 year old car? How many miles?

Early W220 chassis suspension parts are a "common" high failure poor design.

All of that series suspension parts have been re-engineered due to the high failure rate.

Looks like another exception to the rule that newer is always better.

car has 96K miles

No suspension symptoms but boots are split. Better to fix it now.
I am glad to hear the replacements are designed better.
This forum is actually very important as older, higher mileage cars would be junked if not for the information available here.
So thanks to M. B. DOC and the pro techs... and also to Larry Bible and the part timers...

first equipment quality is all chinese made and in my experience, junk. i see mostly the VW parts they make and they are terrible. i have personally rejected many of their parts before they either get shipped to a customer or installed.

This why we have a forum. Someone who knows the parts keeps us from making errors.

Aftermarket

the "reputable" aftermarket has been lured to china for a while. Beck/Arnley has been selling Chinese for a while, Standard Parts (my old neighbor) has had 50% Chinese ownership for at least 4 years.

I buy form several suppliers who are self importers and have had no problems as they sell Lemforder or Behr or Bosch.

Lately I have shied away from Bosch as they have allowed MM to take over their contracts in Europe.

MM did a really poor job of OEM'ing for Volvo on the origonal S80, S70, etc. Cost VolvoNA a pretty penny in Warranty for lots of bad TBA's and ECU's.
