jack points-support.

The primary support for the jack points at front does not seem to be the actual rocker panel alone. Inside the rocker and affixed to the top of the jack point tube is a sheet metal pressing to transfer the weight from the tube to the structure. Wish i could post a picture of this assembly. Does someone out there have one showing the internal structure? This sheet metal is what I try to protect as well by injection of petroleum products. Once it is rusted away you can no longer jack at that point. No way to visually inspect unless rocker panel has developed larger holes in vicinity of tube. But still possible to protect if still pretty much intact. I would not put pr 15, grease or just about anything inside the rocker panel prior to welding as it is too likely to catch fire or degrade from the heat. No access either to extiguish inside rocker panel if it did catch.

ayuh. Seen my car, eh? Well, these are on my "short" list of things to do on my car in 2005. I have a parts car, and I plan to saw out big enough pieces of the whole outside half of the rocker and weld them in. Much easier than trying to form the metal from scratch. The jack points? I'm thinking of machining them out of a solid metal block.. or something like that

I'd like to have a drawing of that jack point structure. Though I can guess what's in there.

I wondered about putting the por15 in before welding. I guess I won't if the stuff will burn after curing. Although I am certainly going to put it on after welding. It seems like the thing to use to seal the bare metal that is exposed upon welding.

I don't have another rocker to weld on there. I am just going to fashion some steel and start sparkin away.
