W210 chassis door rust
After reading about the door rust problem on the 210's, I asked about it at the dealership today. They pulled up my VIN number and said that my car needed to have the service campaign done to check for the door rust. Since it is only a campaign and not a recall, MBUSA will not contact you about it, but the dealer will check it out it you ask them to or if the car is in for some other service. My dealer said that they would apply some of the Mercedes sealant product to all four of my doors just to be safe whether it needs it or not. Rust through Mercedes will help with. Rust bubbles they will not. Mine is fine I believe, but I will take it in next time I'm in the area.
My dealer said that the S classes are a worse problem than the 210 chassis with this rust issue. BTW, there is no campaign nor is there any recall on the failing spring perches. Len '99 E300TD 89,000 miles |

I just sent a 99 E55 to my bodyshop for minor rust repair.
MB covered it no problem. I found the rust bubbles whilst performing the campaign. DR.D

My father's S-Class had to have the doors removed and the rust fixed. It took more than a month for the body shop to complete the work. Yay for the free pontiac...he was glad to have the s-class back and that MB paid for the repair. Now if only we could get a new cluster for that car.
