deer hit in my 108

#$%!@^&%$ animal

Now I must source the following
1. right front fender and protector strip
2. euro light and bucket
3. a bosch driving light with black wrinkle shell, about 6" diameter I believe -- these were common in the 70s and early 80s i think. i got mine from ebay but i no longer shop there
4. radiator
5. fan (just the blades, clutch is OK)
6. perhaps a hood, and
7. perhaps the panel behind the driving light

at least the ECU seems to have survived

tried to post pix but could not get the downsize gig right.

any leads much appreciated (#$*&^!@$* animal)

*sigh*

As far as the radiator goes, I suppose the tanks are OK but the core is chewed up? Take the radiator to:

Danny's Radiator Service
702 Marietta Street, Zanesville, OH 43701
(740) 453-0084

I had mine re-cored for $200, and he pressure tested the oil cooler for me too. Does wonderful work.

That's about all I have any suggestions on. Deer in Ohio suck. I say kill them all

thanx matthew -- I'm only about 45 miles from Zanesville so that may work. I've hit 2 deer in the last nine years and each was on I-71 in the Mansfield vicinity, each was 11:30 PM.

I *May* have a spare fan for you if it's a 4.5...let me know. I bought one NOS and then landed up winning a used one in eBay last year so I took it too and only used the NOS one. You can have my spare for the cost of shipping.

That sucks

I'm really sorry to hear about the crash, I know how gutting that could be. I may be able to source a fan at the local pick and pull on my next visit and I have a spare grill if you need it.

If you want to post some pictures, post them on my W108 gallery (http://www.w108.org/gallery) and link it to the thread using the IMG /IMG tags.

You can self register.

All the best

thanx marty and al. amazingly the grill is untouched, but the rubber-band mounting on the radiator apparently let it flex enough on impact so that 8 of the fan blades got chewed off by biting the radiator.

marty, should not i pay the price plus shipping? it is a '72 4.5. hey, and marty, i see on your ebay thread that you mention having a "really nice radiator." Wanna sell it?

al, when i was looking at the ride again this PM, i thought "if Al can resurrect his 108 from that rear-ender, most assuredly I can do this!" And, I am already a registered member on the yahoo 108 site, i'll putz around with photos but they are depressing...

when I started it this PM it ran really well so my fears of ECU damage seem unfounded.

thanx again for the offers. any ideas on a fender and maybe a hood?

Thats rough luck, same thing happened to me back in Dec. 2004. Good news is that replacing the bolt-on fender is easy, it wraps around to include the panel behind the driving lights too. Meanwhile if the car ends up needing a hood can recommend a drivable $500 complete parts car for one stop shopping that includes *everything* except the Euro headlight pod here: one and 1/2 108's.... $500

Crap... I wish I could help, all I have is pieces parts of a W114/115
If any parts work they are yours

A deer, what bad luck, I was actually thinking about that happening the other night on my way back from Tennessee in my 300SD, I was on edge thinking one was going to jump out, fortunately it did not.
At least your OK

Keep us posted

I'll see if I have the fan later, I am pretty sure I still have it but that stuff is in the trunk of the car and the car's stored offsite now. As for the radiator, I do have a nice one, I was saving it as a replacement for mine in the future because I noted mine has some scaling in it that didn't flush out...now that it looks like I'm keeping the car I think I want to hold onto it because I know when I need it I won't be able to find one without spending $$$$. Getting yours recored should not be that expensive and will give you one that's as good as new anyway.

Hi- I have a 1969 Euro 280S parts car. I think I have everything you need, all good except the fender is rusted near the jack point, as is often the case. I'm not sure how extensive the rust is. The Euro lights BTW are in exceptionally good condition- safely removed and stored, and I would prefer to sell them as a pair, but prices would be reasonable.

Problem is getting it all to you. I suppose everything you need will have to be shipped from somewhere, but as I'm in Canada, it probably adds some complication and cost.

If at all interested in any or all of it, PM me here. I can provide detailed photos if you need.

Dave

thanx for the tip dog, I wonder what trucking those two up to southcentral Ohio would cost. Thanx for the other comments/commiserations. Sounds like a good plan marty, holding on to the radiator. I've got matthew's tip on a recoring place not far away plus I have another lead on a supposedly decent shop only 10 miles away.

since I actually have insurance beyond liability I may come out OK ($-wise). I only switched policies about 3 or 4 months ago and it is under a "collector" policy so I do not know if I'll get grief since I was 75 miles from home at 11:30 PM. Will be studying the policy lingo today.

Ok, on the deer hit, supposedly the estimate is coming in around $5200. My concern is, how to ascertain if the ECU suffered from the jolt? The auto runs but it is very rough, sorta like its got a bad plug or two. I've not run it long enough after the wreck to even let it idle down (no radiator).

Any tips on diagnosing the ECU?

Thanx.
