Door dings

Has anyone here got experience with removing small door dings where the paint is okay? Is there some kind of small suction device that you can use to pop the metal back out?

See if there is a Dent Wizard in town. This really works, I saw a man perform a miracle in front of my eyes on a co-workers car right in the parking lot. Not inexpensive, but worth it, especially considering the real costs of the alternatives.

You can take that to the bank. If the tech is good, they can do wonders.

Thanks

Thanks, I'll try that. I didn't know they did it while you could watch them. I assumed there were special tools/techniques they used that were proprietary that they wouldn't want to divulge to their customers. I'd love to see how it's done.

I bought a Ding King Pro five years ago - fairly easy to be an accomplished artist with this device. Couldn't even guess how many thousands of dollars in gratis work I have done for myself and friends. Definitely a good inexpensive tool to have in the box.

Reviews of Ding King

TX, it sounds like you have been pretty pleased with your Dink King. I found them for sale in a number of places, but also discovered several negative reviews of this tool (troubleshooter.com & some TV station's consumer affairs program).
Did you have any trouble getting the hang of it at first? Were you satisfied that it completely removed dents and dings? What was the largest dent you took out with it?
I'm buying one anyhow, but I'm still curious what your experience was. Thanks for your help!

Yes, you do need to get the hang of it. The instruction don't give you the real feel you need. Best advice: after you adhere the puller plate - crank it fast, don't wimp around, you want it to pop. Big Dents take several attempts. Glue does not adhere as well in hot temeratures.

The green liquid to release the glue is just dyed isopropyl alcohol and the glue stick can be bought at Hobby Lobby, don't fall for the re-order scam.

The most impressive dent I removed was on the back corner of the roof on a Dodge Pick up, right on the corner curve. A pole fell on that corner while loading. It took 5 - 6 pulls but myself and the owner thought it was an incredible feat.

I can believe the negative reviews, before I had the hang of it, wasn't real impressed either.

Thanks again

That's good to know. I'll find something to practice on first. Some of the reviews said they ended up with inverted dents or were unable to completely remove the dents. I don't have a lot of patience, so it's good to know if there's a learning curve to deal with.

I ordered mine this afternoon.

Inverted dents are caused by using to large of a puller plate or to much force on a small dent (like hail). There is a tool with mine that knocks "nipples" back in. That's what they are called.

Thanks again

Thanks again TX. I found the Ding King on E Bay for about $9.00 plus shipping. I guess it's been around long enough that the price has come down. Thanks again for mentioning it. Getting door dings on one's car is sort of like "death by a thousand cuts," eh?
