'99 E320 front bumper impact strip/molding removal
Sorry, I posted this in the "Tech" forum. It might have more resonses here.
On my '99 E320, I need to remove the front impact strip or front molding. It is the piece that also holds the side marker lights. On a '99, this is single wrap around molding. How is this piece attached? Can the molding be removed without removing the entire bumper? If there is a DIY procedure, I would appeciate any help. Thanks, -rob lee |

I believe you have to take the whole bumper off and go at it from the rear. Benz bumpers are usually pretty easy though. Just look it over real good and you should be able to see what needs to be done. It always helps to have the car up in the air.

Thanks, I will probably start doing this tonight. I assumed this to be true, as I did find a W211 front bumper removal pictorial.

As indicated, I was able to pull the front bumper off the car in less than 2 hours. I can probably do it now in 1/2 the time, as I know where all of the fasteners are. After pulling back the inner front fender guards, the bumper is held in place by 2 bolts and 2 nuts. I have pictures to post later, but everything came off very easy.
After the bumper was off, the impact strip removal was harder than the bumper itself. There are four, stubborn metal clips, next to each side marker light hole, they were very hard to slip off. Thanks, -rob lee |

Glad to hear you got the job done. Nice and easy usually works.
