Painting a LWB W126 What To Remove, Lower Cladding Paint Code?

I'm preparing to put my new SDL in for paint, I'm just wondering other than the Lights, Script/Emblems/Trim on the trunk, and Grille, what else should be removed.

Perhaps the door handles?

Also, does anyone know the paint code for the lower bodyside cladding on a 87 W126? My car is Anthricite Grey. But IIRC 86-87 W126 cars had the same cladding color across the line. I am going to be replacing my front bumper with the repaint.

Thanks in advance!

Body cladding just snaps into place

Door handles will be a challange as you have to remove lots of stuff, but it's easily done. Also then you could remove the upper chrome on the doors

Chrome over doors is a snap

Get some crap wheels on there or cover them well

Windshield washer jet nozzles, I'd just replace them at this point

Consider removing the front and rear glass once there

Two small trim units down windshield

That's about it. I'd get a few extra coats of clear put on (4-5) so you have something to wet sand and buff up if there is any orange peel.

Where ya planning on getting this done? My brother's 420 and the 380 I just bought for him both need some paint.

Antenna + seal, trunk seal (have the inside lip painted), mirrors (at least the rubber covers, I ALWAYS see overspray work it's way onto them).

Paint Code for silver 86 420SEL

I'm considering having MAACO repaint my vehicle. Hence, I want to know the paint code for this vehicle? What items should be removed while they repaint the vehicle? Also, what type of paint and clearcoat should they use? Thanks!

A 126 front glass can stay in place, just remove the trim. Rear glass seal can have a small rope tucked under it to raise it up so it gets painted beyond the edge otherwise that's a potential peel back area.
I think the 126 is easier to strip than a 123. I'm painting a 123 at the moment. Side moldings, all that rubber BS around the bumpers...seems endless.
