clearcoat fix on older cars
In searching,I see a number of references about how the paint on older models is easier to fix,but no exact reasons/instructions on how or why.
My 1974 SL had perfect paint when I bought it,but after spending last winter outdoors in cold/snow it has started to peel in a number of areas. It looks like moisture has gotten under the clear coat. The worst is on the hood, where of course I get to look at every time I drive it I thought about trying to sand/feather these areas and respray but I'm not sure it won't look worse/more obvious Can anyone explain the best plan for a DIY fix |

I sanded and feathered some clear coat issues on the door of the 500SE and it turned out well. Midnight Blue is pretty easy color to shoot might not of tried it with a metallic. My hood also suffered but it was just as easy to sand and paint the entire area. This is one project that I actually did shoot some B & A pics but don't have them with me at work.
